Problems

In Nigeria, a significant portion of the agricultural produce is lost due to the lack of proper storage facilities. Post-harvest losses can be as high as 40%, leading to substantial economic losses for farmers and fishers who rely heavily on their produce for income. Additionally, these losses contribute to food scarcity and increased prices for consumers. The lack of reliable cold storage solutions is a critical gap in the agricultural value chain that needs to be addressed urgently.

Founders Story

In the riverine communities of Nigeria, small-scale farming and fish production are the lifeblood of the local economy. However, many of these communities are off the national grid, lacking effective cold storage facilities. This, combined with the long chain of middlemen, often leads to significant spoilage of unsold perishable produce, severely impacting the income of farmers and retailers. Growing up, I witnessed my father's struggles as a fisherman, watching his hard-earned catch spoil due to the lack of proper storage. I made a promise to myself that I would find a solution. This led me to pursue a degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture, and eventually to the founding of Cold Alive.

COLD ALIVE is a green cold chain enterprise that leverages AI to offer smallholder farmers of perishable agricultural produce 24/7 effective storage and preservation services. Our AI-driven Mobile Platform connects farmers to food aggregators, optimizing logistics and reducing post-harvest losses through predictive analytics, real-time temperature monitoring, and dynamic route planning.
